York-based but Cambridgeshire rooted indie rockers The Vedettes are no normal indie band. Not content to merely imitate those that came before, the quintet’s debut single ‘Silver’ is a mission statement of a band who tread their own path. Drawing inspiration from everyone from The Smiths to Jaws, Mallory Knox to Circa Waves, ‘Silver’ is an atmospheric jaunt of Britbop-by-way-of-alt-rock. Frontman Simon Hall’s distinctive vocals are supported by the pounding drums of Michele Pascale, interlocking guitarwork of Alfie Gerzimbke and Tim Erimhan and driving bass of James Butterworth. The band are currently in the process of writing and recording their debut EP, which is set to be released next year.
