Charles Arbon: Scars

A student from Cambridge Regional College is embarking on a musical career while raising money for charity.

Charles Arbon is studying Level 2 Music Performance and Production and is preparing to release his first full EP, Scars, via the colleges record label, Rogue.

The new material has been a work in progress since late 2019 and with the recording complete prior to current pandemic restrictions, Charlie has been spending time in lockdown preparing artwork and marketing materials, with the support of producers and designers in the Rogue team. In addition, Charlie continues to work on new material.

The inspiration for Scars has been things that Charlie comes across in his everyday life, but with an element of manipulation and the rearrangement of scenarios to create an indepth story for the listener.

Upon reflecting on the current global and national emergency, Charlie has taken the decision to donate the proceeds from the sale of his EP to the NHS and MIND.

Music production lecturer, Ashley Hardy said: “Charlie is an excellent musician and more specifically an excellent songwriter. He has embraced his first studio experience and is working really hard to market his work alongside the efforts of the label.

“Charlie’s choice to donate proceeds from the release is a wonderful gesture and he should be proud of what he has achieved this year.”

When asked what advice Charlie would give to anyone with a dream, he said: ”Never doubt yourself, always push yourself and always focus on your skills rather than your struggles.”

Looking ahead, Charlie plans to continue his studies on the Level 3 Music Performance and Production course with a view to specialising in music performance to further develop his skills as a musician.
